A New Gender-Neutral Children's Clothing Collection Launched
Share
I am so excited to launch my new children’s clothing collection.
The goal was to create a range of clothes that exude positivity and fun and empower children to explore the world without gender constraints.
After months of dedicated work, I am so excited to finally unveil these designs.
Gender-Neutral Children’s Clothing
I find it bizarre that we still live in an age where clothing for children is so gendered.
You walk into any high street store’s children’s section and are immediately split into girls and boys. Pinks and blues.
I am also regularly shocked at the difference in the messaging on children’s clothes: boys with “Born To Be Mighty” or “Ready To Roll” and girls with “Princess” and “Pretty In Pink.”
To be clear, I have no problem with young girls wearing pink! I just wish we offered all children equal access to robust clothing with positive and strong slogans.
So, I endeavoured to design a range of clothing that doesn’t consider the child's gender during the design process.
I’ve tried to reclaim pink as just one of the colours. A colour that anyone can wear.
I also offer all of the designs in various colours, so you can wear construction vehicles on a pink T-shirt or ponies on a dark blue T-shirt.
The slogans are strong, positive, and fun statements, so we can all aspire to be more than just a princess (with all the connotations associated with that role in traditional stories).
Slow Fashion
It was also important to me that the range be ethical.
I did a lot of research and am very happy to have chosen Teemill.com to produce these designs.
This company has environmental sustainability at the very heart of its business model, even down to using paper packaging rather than plastic.
The clothes are made from organic cotton with water-based inks in a factory powered by renewable energy.
I decided I didn’t want to be part of the fast-fashion world, which produces garments as quickly and cheaply as possible without considering the environmental (and human) cost of the processes involved.
So, What Do You Think?
Your Feedback Matters! I would greatly appreciate your thoughts on the collection.
Are there designs you love? Do you want to request a design? Would you also like to see any of the designs as adult designs? Do let me know!
Leave me a message in the comments section below - I really look forward to reading your thoughts!
Take care,
